The holiday periods in the school year 2022/23 are as follows:
Fall Break: October 10th - 21st
Christmas Holiday: December 23 - January 07
Easter holidays: April 06 - 22
Ascension Day: May 19th
Movable holidays: January 30th and May 17th
SCHOOL REGISTRATION
All children who turn six by June 30 of a year are obliged to go to school for the school year of the same year. All children registered in Ellerbek are automatically contacted. You do not have to register with us separately.
The enrollment process at the HLS consists of three essential elements:
- School game: In a small group, the children show the skills they have learned so far, which are important for school. They are accompanied by teachers. You will receive a personal invitation for your child.
- One-on-one interview with the school administration: Here, an exchange takes place on the developmental status of your child. You will also receive a separate invitation for this.
- School medical examination: This is carried out by the health department of the district of Pinneberg. You will receive an invitation from there.
After this procedure, you will receive a folder with all the important information about five to seven weeks before you start school. In this you will also find the class assignment for your child.
Your child will start school on the Wednesday after the summer holidays. Shortly before, you will be invited to a parents' evening with the class teacher.

SCHOOL TRANSITION SECONDARY SCHOOL
At the end of the fourth year, the pupils receive a recommendation for their choice of secondary school. In a conversation, the teachers discuss these with the child and his parents. The final choice of school type is made by the parents.
With this recommendation you will also receive a registration form for secondary school. You can there one Enter school or several . If the school of choice does not work, the documents are automatically passed on to the next school.
The schools introduce themselves at the beginning of February. There are afternoons for the children to try things out and/or parents' evenings for information. You must register in person at a school as part of the prescribed registration procedure. The receiving schools send out the confirmations a few weeks later.
The exact times will be announced at the first parents' evening in the fourth school year.
The municipality of Ellerbek is a member of the Rugenbergen school association. The Rugenbergen community school accepts all children in the community.
